One might be forgiven for thinking that shapewear exists only for
women, for only that is widely publicised and covered by the internet. However,
to the surprise of many, shapewear for men is now helping men to tuck in
those beer bellies.
There are multiple types of shapewear for men:
1.
The Mirdle- An everyday wear
girdle for men who want flat tummies and want to correct their posture. Many
men use the constriction shirt as an alternate for this, and this is especially
popular amongst athletes.
2.
The Thigh Compressor-
Necessitated by new trends which glamorize slim pants, mantyhoses is pantyhoses
for men. These help in compression and strangely enough, help blood flow in the
legs. It is used for slimmer thighs and calves.
3.
The Shape Enhancer Boxer-Brief-
This item helps men achieve a fuller look in the groin region. These, however,
are uncomfortable and have been said to restrict blood flow.
4.
Compression Vests- This item is
very similar to a normal t-shirt. It helps the user avoid showcasing his ‘man
boobs’ and stomach fat. This item is said to improve the wearer’s posture too.
While it is seen as ‘unmanly’ to use these items, people must
realise that this is an age where men are just as conscious about their looks
as are women. Purchasing shapewear for men must be seen no differently
than is purchasing underwear. However, as it is with all shapewear, it must be
chosen with care and caution.
